Part of a continuum, new conceptual links shift attention towards the interrelationships between time and meaning by the  juxtaposition of its parts. A more fluid, harmonious whole deepening their resonance.

The history of Portraiture inspired this limited edition book of digital self portraits. Paired with other visuals, culled primarily from my art, they interpret my path towards Jung’s individualization process via the Collective unconscious, anima/animus, the Shadow and the Archetypes.

We wound and are wounded, with and without intention, incessantly. Language Barriers invokes language’s power to disguise and to highlight, addressing a collective need to take intentional (transformational) responsibility, to move the passivity of guilt towards active forgiveness.

The Cleansing (Finding Forgiveness, a Pro-choice Debate), 2008
I like to think a poetic feminine conceptualism travels through my videos, weaving visual, physical, and emotional threads. The Cleansing, made to commemorate a profound act of self-forgiveness, was reached only after decades of denial. This work honors the lives I sacrificed through abortion—choices I believed, at the time, were just and true.

Road Work, 2009
Made during a time of my life  that was demanding difficult choices, unexpected choices be made. Choices involving location; ‘Where is home?’, choices involving relationship; Marriage or divorce?, choices involving a fierce belief in self despite a time in which instability and uncertainty reigned. Making Road Work, led me, as all roads eventually do, closer to my destination.

Playing with idiomatic phrases, Baptism By Fire aims to elevate the mundane towards the profound. Voyaging into the past just enough to arrive at the underlying core of truth from which each phrase emerged.

Entrapped in anonymous spaces, common to us all, can one give oneself permission to notice the sublime within these repetitive and marvelously banal spaces? Is the sublime always present, waiting to be seen by those curious enough to seek it?

Abstract and abbreviated, these deliberately partial glimpses of the world rapidly passing; changing instantaneously as do we. Place the seen and acknowledged equal to that which is forgotten.
